We Want Smackies! (Nominate AAL For SmackJeeves Awards)

Come on "At Arm's Length" readers, it's time to prove your loyalty, and what better way then nominating this comic for a 2010 SmackJeeves Awards! (Sending us money would be better, but this is nice too!)

If you feel "AAL" should be up for nomination in a category, please respond to this page on the SmackJeeves forums: http://www.smackjeeves.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2809

Rules: Reply on the nomination thread with your nomination suggestions, with a link to each comic or its profile page. You may suggest however many comics you want with however many categories you want.

Basically, nominate "AAL" for whatever category you feel is appropriate. For example: Best Comedy, Best Fantasy, Best B & W Comic, etc. We'll leave it up to you to decide what category(ies) to promote the comic for.

For obvious reasons, you have to be a member of the SJ forum in order to respond there. Also, unlike some other awards, this isn't a popularity contest and will be judged by a panel, which means obscure comics have just as good a chance of winning different categories as the more popular ones do.

But we can't be in the running if we don't get mentioned! So if you like "AAL," be sure to let the Smackies know!

Coming up a Year-and-a-half anniversary

First week of February will mark 18 months of "At Arm's Length." I don't think that's a real anniversary, more like a personal milestone. :)

Current story is about halfway done at this point. Like "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," this is meant to be a glance at different generations of Enchanters and their views. Not too heavy, mind you.

Merry Christmas!

Hope you all have had a merry Christmas! Today concludes our week-long holiday story. Hope you enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at our cast in a more casual setting.

Happy birthday J-man!

We return to the story proper next week with more Enchanter encounters. Next year will bring further expansions to the story setting and more background info on our characters. Yay!

Bugging Up The Works

We're moving toward the halfway point of the current story arc. Following this, we hope to have a short Christmas story for you before resuming with the story.

Coming up next year, expect some more stories to stretch out the universe and its rules, including trips to secret locations, mortals stumbling (or almost stumbling) onto evidence of magic and more about the Enchanter culture.

Hope you all keep reading! Happy holidays.

Wrapping things up

This week marks the finale of "The Deer Witch Project," a story that has been going on since, dang, has really been since May? Seven months, that's something.

Had it not been for delays, this story would have been completed a month ago. Oh well, real life is unsympathetic to plans.

In any case, we hope you've enjoyed what has been our longest story arc so far. We probably won't try one this long again for a while.

Next week begins a more light-hearted guest-drawn story. Hope you like it!

Oh, one final note. I'll be reordering the comic strips so that "The Wall" story and the recent filler art comes after the end of "Deer Witch," that way there's no interruption of the story in the archives.

Ciao!

Should be back on track for next Tuesday

I feel bad about having two weeks of filler right in the middle of the finale.

In any case, the comic will resume Oct. 20 and should run uninterrupted throughout the rest of the story. The next story should run uninterrupted as well. Thanks for hanging in there.

Forgot to post filler

Sorry guys, I was going to run filler art this week, but I forgot to post the first one today. Will just run it Wednesday-Friday instead. :)

How's about a dead-tree edtion?

We're currently kicking around the idea of a print version of the comic, collecting the past strips like newspaper comics do. Have any ideas about what you'd like to see included in a collection?

Feel free to share them in the thread on our forum: http://atarmslength.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=updates&action=display&thread=66
